The application of molecular technology in fish culture can be applied starting from chromosome engineering, gene engineering and cell engineering.
Chromosome engineering includes gynogenesis, androgenesis and polyploidization activities which aim to manipulate these chromosomes to increase the productivity of cultured fish and provide added value to fish farmers, whereas gene engineering can be applied if the equipment for engineering is available where gene engineering can be made. Cultivated fish commodities are inserted with beneficial genes for farmers such as growth genes, antifreeze genes and body color genes.
